Employee Benefits
The benefits described below are for regular, full-time employees.
Medical Options
Most BTI employees have this medical plan choice:
United Healthcare 7A-Q Plan (Traditional POS)
This plan gives an employee the choice of an in-network or out-of-network
service provider without choosing a primary care physician. An employee
receives a higher level of benefit when using an in-network provider. All
levels of coverage include small office visit co-pays. Deductibles apply when
using out-of-network providers and other services subject to the deductible.
Prescription Plans is subject to a co-pay, as well
United Healthcare G4-A Plan (High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
This plan gives an employee the choice of an in-network or out-of-network
service provider without choosing a primary care physician. An employee
receives a higher level of benefit when using an in-network provider. All
levels of coverage beyond preventative care (subject to $300 max for year) are
subject to the deductible. Once the deductible is met, approved plan
expenses paid at 100%. Deductibles apply when
using out-of-network providers and other services subject to the deductible.
Prescription Plans is subject to a deductible as well, then go to a co-pay
after deductible has been meet for the remainder of the year.
Prescription Plans
Prescription drug benefits are available through the medical plan. Using
network pharmacies offers the highest level of benefit. Mail order for
maintenance drugs is also offered.
Vision Plan
Eye Med allows employees to purchase eye wear from approved Lens Crafters at
discount prices.
Dental Options
The comprehensive dental plan covers routine examinations, cleaning, x-rays,
extractions, fillings, and other restorative work.
BTI Flexible Spending Accounts
It offers both a health care account and a dependant day-care account. An
employee can use these spending accounts to pay for health and dependent
day-care expenses not already covered under any other plan on a before-tax
basis. There is no limit on the amount that may be contributed to the health
care account. A combined family reimbursement cannot exceed $5,000 per year
for the dependent day-care account.
Disability Benefits
Short Term Disability
This plan provides 100 percent of base salary for up to 60 days of disability.
There is no cost to the employee for this benefit.
Long-Term Disability
BTI's long-term disability plan is a voluntary program paid for by employees
on an after-tax basis. After 60 days of disability, the plan pays 60 percent
of base monthly salary, tax free. The maximum benefit is $10,000 per month.
New enrollees are subject to a pre-existing condition clause which provides
that conditions treated or known in the three months prior to enrollment are
not covered for the first 12 months of insurance coverage.
Life Insurance Coverage
Basic Life
BTI provides coverage at one times annual salary to a maximum of $50,000 at no
cost to employees.
Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment
BTI provides accidental death and dismemberment coverage at one times annual
salary to a maximum of $50,000 at no cost to employees.
Voluntary Term Life
BTI offers a voluntary group life insurance plan that allows employees to buy
additional coverage for themselves or cover their spouse and/or children. The
group plans offer low premium rates and various levels of benefit up to
$500,000.
401(k) Plan
The 401(k) is designed to help employees build funds for the future and reduce
taxes now. Contributions to the Plan are not subject to federal or most state
income taxes so long as they remain in the Plan.
Employees are automatically eligible to begin contributing to the Plan on
the first month after 90 days of continuous employment after hire date.
Employees may contribute up to 25 percent on a tax-deferred basis, subject to
the maximum deferral amount determined by the IRS ($16,500 in 2009).
Six (6) Month Stock Purchase Plan
This plan is offered every six months, beginning in January and July.
Employees are eligible to participate if employed on the day before the
offering begins. An employee may authorize up to $500 per month through
payroll deductions.
Tuition Reimbursement Program
The purpose of BTI's Tuition Reimbursement Program is to assist eligible
employees in lifelong learning through approved educational opportunities.
Reimbursement is for accredited colleges & universities.
BTI will reimburse 100 percent of pre-approved course costs including
tuition and eligible fees. Regular full-time employees are eligible to receive
up to $5,000 annually.
Reimbursement occurs after successful completion of the course. Tuition
reimbursement is administered internally.
Community Service
BTI encourages its employees to participate in citizenship activities. Time
off is available for serving on jury duty, as a witness, and for temporary
active duty or training with the military reserves or National Guard. The
duration of such leaves depends on the situation.
Holidays
BTI employees observe seven holidays per year: New Year's Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and
Christmas Day. Additional holidays may be granted beyond the seven core at the
discretion of BTI as warranted when core holidays fall during the week in a
given year. Additional company holidays may or may not be included in future
company holiday allotments.

Vacation
Regular, full-time employees earn vacation as follows: for years one through
four, 10 days per year (after a 6 month waiting period); for years five
through nine, 15 days per year; for years 10 and up, 20 days per year.
